Join the Blue Birds

Our Blue Bird Auxiliary serves four hospital campuses throughout the Methodist Healthcare System. We have specific needs at each facility. These needs are listed below. We try very hard to place you in the department of your choosing. However, meeting the needs of our patients, visitors, staff and current volunteers is our first priority. If you can help meet our needs, we would love to give you a rewarding experience at one of our facilities.

Please choose a volunteer facility and work area below and indicate your choice on your application.

Methodist Hospital - Our most dire need right now is Patient Escort. This fun and important position will give you the opportunity to work with patients and staff. You will make lots of friends with other Blue Birds, too! You will be escorting patients of all ages throughout the hospital. Our Escorts also assist with wayfinding due to the major construction project that is underway. We also have positions open at the Information Desk and Blue Bird Gift Shop.

Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital (MSTH) - Currently, we have a variety of positions open at MSTH. This includes Information Desk, Surgery Waiting Room, Admitting Patient Laison (great for early risers!), Emergency Room and Floor Duty assisting staff and patients. Please indicate on your application that you would like to volunteer at MSTH. We REALLY need volunteers like you at this wonderful hospital!

Methodist Texsan Hospital - This is our newest facility! Methodist Texsan is very excited to welcome volunteers at the Information Desk and staff support in the units. As we grow here, so will the opportunities. Volunteer here and become part of a very enthusiastic team!

Methodist Children's Hospital - We currently are looking at additional opportunities for volunteers who want to help our littlest patients. For now, we have the Art Cart available. In this position your creativity will flow while you help children get their minds off what is ailing them! Don't worry...you don't have to be an artist to be successful in this position. To a child, all grown-ups are as good as Michaelangelo!

“The social aspect of being with the other Blue Birds is very important to me. I also love being able to talk – and to listen – to all the different stories I hear from the visitors to the hospital who come from all walks of life and all levels of society.”
