Community Support

Blue Bird volunteers are active across the San Antonio community, serving on the Board of Directors, volunteering at multiple non-profit agencies and organizations and demonstrating leadership and servant hood in countless areas.

Aside from individual contribution, the Blue Bird Auxiliary offer financial assistance to students pursing degree to work in a variety of healthcare fields. Scholarships are awarded annually to a select number of applicants that fulfill the eligibility requirements. The Blue Bird Auxiliary partners with the San Antonio Foundation in the recipient selection and administering of scholarship disbursements.

In addition to scholarship, the Blue Bird Auxiliary makes available grants to non-profit programs and services. Grant recipients are organizations that help support research, education and services that directly benefit medically challenged children and adults in San Antonio and the surrounding area. Grants benefit community non-profits as well as the Methodist Healthcare System.

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the 2019 Blue Bird Grant Application. We are always happy to assist San Antonio Community organizations when we are able. Unfortunately, for 2019, we are not considering community grant applications while we work through some changes occurring within our facility. The 2020 application will open next February. Our Finance Committee will be happy to review your request then. Thank you for understanding.

The application for in-house (only Methodist Hospital) grants for 2019 is now open! Please see below. The deadline for 2019 proposals will be Friday, March 15th. If selected, the grants are awarded annually on June 1st. Please download the following documents:

"I love helping people. I like meeting new people and making new friends. I work in the Surgery Waiting Room and act as a liason between the Doctors and families. I enjoy being helpful to family members while they are anxiously awaiting news on their patient."
